About this calculator
Molarity is the concentration of a solution in moles of solute per litre, M = moles / litres. The number of moles comes from mass ÷ molar mass. Enter the mass of solute, its molar mass and the solution volume to get the molarity.
Frequently asked questions
What is molarity?
Molarity (M) is moles of solute per litre of solution. Dissolving 58.44 g of NaCl (1 mole) in 1 litre gives a 1 M solution.
How do I get moles from grams?
Divide the mass in grams by the molar mass in g/mol. 117 g of NaCl is 117 / 58.44 = 2 moles.
