About this calculator

A how many days since calculator counts the days that have elapsed since a past date — a birthday, an anniversary, a start date or any milestone — and also breaks the gap down into years-months-days, into weeks, and into hours. Use it to track how long ago something happened or how long you have kept a streak going.

It measures from the past date up to today, so you only enter one date and the "other end" is always the current day. The elapsed span is then repeated in easier units — full years-months-days, whole weeks, and total hours — because a bare figure such as 500 days is hard to relate to. The count refreshes every time the page loads, so a streak or milestone ticks up by one each day.

For example, viewed on 8 July 2026, a start date of 1 January 2025 shows 553 days since, which reads as 1 year, 6 months, 7 days, about 79 weeks or roughly 13,270 hours. People use it to track sobriety or no-smoking streaks, days since a project launched, time since a wedding or first date, or simply "how many days ago was that".

Frequently asked questions

How is "days since" different from a date difference?

It always measures from the past date up to today, so you never have to enter the second date. The full date-difference tool lets you pick both ends of the range yourself.

Why show years, months and days as well?

A raw day count like 400 days is hard to picture, so the calculator also gives the same gap as "1 year, 1 month, 5 days", which is easier to read for long spans.

Does the count include today?

The elapsed days are measured up to today, so the current day is the endpoint and is not itself added on. A date one week ago shows as seven days since.

Can I use it to count a streak of days?

Yes. Enter the day the streak started and the "days since" figure is exactly how many days you have kept it going, updating by one each day you return.

How is this different from an age calculator?

An age calculator is tuned for birthdays and reports full years and months. This tool works for any past milestone and leads with the raw number of days elapsed.

Does it count weekends and holidays?

Yes. Every calendar day since the start date is counted, including weekends and public holidays — it is a straight day count, not a working-day count.
