About this calculator
A days until calculator counts the number of whole days from today to a future date, so you can see exactly how long until a deadline, holiday, exam or event. It also breaks the same span down into years-months-days, into weeks, and into hours, and tells you which day of the week the target lands on.
The count is measured from the current date each time you open the page, so it is always live — it subtracts today from the target and reports the whole number of nights in between. Because a big number like 280 days is hard to picture, the same distance is repeated in friendlier units: years-months-days ("9 months, 6 days"), whole weeks, and total hours, along with the weekday the target falls on.
For example, opened on 8 July 2026 with a target of 25 December 2026, it shows 170 days until Christmas, about 24 weeks or 4,080 hours, landing on a Friday. Common uses are counting down to a wedding, a due date, an exam, a holiday, a product launch, a birthday, or the end of a lease.

Does it count today?
No. The count is the number of nights from today until the target date, so a date tomorrow shows as one day. A date already in the past shows as a negative number.
Does it update automatically?
Yes. The count is measured from the current date each time the page loads, so tomorrow the same target date will show one fewer day remaining.
Why show the gap in several units?
A raw day count is hard to picture for long spans, so the same distance is also given as years-months-days, as whole weeks, and as total hours.
How many days until Christmas or another holiday?

Does it include weekends and holidays in the count?

What happens if the target date is today?
A target of today shows zero days remaining, and a target tomorrow shows one day, because the count measures the nights between now and the target.
